Description

E5050 | APOA1 (Human) ELISA Kit DataSheet

ApoA1, also known as apolipoprotein A-I is a major protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. It has a specific role in lipid metabolism. Chylomicrons secreted from the intestinal enterocyte also contain ApoA1 but it is quickly transferred to HDL in the bloodstream. The protein promotes cholesterol efflux from tissues to the liver for excretion. Apo A1 was also isolated as a prostacyclin stabilizing factor, and thus have an anticlotting effect. Defects in the gene encoding it are associated with HDL deficiencies, including Tangier disease, and with systemic non-neuropathic amyloidosis. ApoA1 is often used as a biomarker for prediction of cardiovascular diseases. ’s APOA1 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of APOA1 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of APOA1 in the sample.
