Description
Amygdalin is a cyanogenic glucoside isolated from almonds and seeds of other plants of the family Rosaceae. It displays anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties. It induces apoptosis as a result of increased expression of Bax protein and caspase-3 and reduced expression of antiapoptotic BcL-2 protein. Amygdalin can serve as a chemopreventive agent to prevent or alleviate progression of breast cancer, especially TNBC.
