Description: Bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) also known as osteogenic protein-1 or OP-1 belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling family and has a very broad biological role in development. BMP-7 plays an essential in the transformation of mesenchymal cells into bone and cartilage. It initiates the canonical BMP signaling cascade by associating with type I receptor ACVR1 and type II receptor ACVR2A. BMP-7 is involved in bone homeostasis. It is expressed in the brain, kidneys and bladder. BMP-7 also has the potential for treatment of chronic kidney disease. Overexpression of renal BMP-7 is capable of inhibiting TGF-β/Smad3 signaling and protects the kidney from TGFβ-mediated renal injury. BMP-7 decreases renal fibrosis in diabetic nephropathy by regulating miR-21/Smad7 signaling, providing a theoretical basis for the development of novel and effective therapeutic drugs for diabetic nephropathy. ’s BMP-7 (MouISA Kit is based on the Sandwich-ELISA principle. The micro-ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Mouse BMP-7. Standards or samples are added to the micro-ELISA plate wells that bind to the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Mouse BMP-7 and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. The wells are washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and blue color develops in proportion to the amount of BMP-7 bound. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and turns color. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Mouse BMP-7. The concentration of Mouse BMP-7 in the samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
