Description
Collagen alpha-1(II) chain (COL2A1) is also known as Alpha-1 type II collagen, which can be cleaved into the following 2 chains: Collagen alpha-1(II) chain and Chondrocalcin. COL2A1 belongs to the fibrillar collagen family. Type II collagen / COL2A1 is specific for cartilaginous tissues. It is essential for the normal embryonic development of the skeleton, for linear growth and for the ability of cartilage to resist compressive forces.

Biological activity: recombinant Superoxide Dismutase is fully biologically active when compared to standard. Activity tests were carried using SOD activity assay kit (K335-100). The activity assay kit showed that the calculated activity was ~40,000 U/mg. This was calculated from the amount (µg) required to inhibit the Xanthine Oxidase activity by 50%
