Description

Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is produced by activated macrophages and stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release. IL-1 also induces B-cell maturation and proliferation, and modulates fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins have been identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are involved in the inflammatory response.
