Description

E4963 | MOG (Human) ELISA Kit DataSheet

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a 26 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. MOG acts either as a cell surface receptor or a cell adhesion molecule. It is expressed exclusively by the oligodendrocytes in the central nervous system (CNS) and on the surface of myelin sheaths. It makes up about 0.05% of the myelin sheath and enables smooth electrical conduction of action potential. The extracellular IgV domain of MOG is accessible to the antibodies present in the extracellular milieu. As a result, the antibodies attack MOG and elicit a demyelinating autoantibody response. MOG antibodies are observed in disorders such as optic neuritis (ON), acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), and transverse myelitis (TM). Hence, the detection of MOG antibodies has been implicated in the diagnosis of patients with CNS demyelination disorders. ’s MOG (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich principle to quantitatively measure the concentration of MOG in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is directly proportional to the concentration of MOG in the sample or standard.

Alternate Name : BTN6, BTNL11, MOGIG2, NRCLP7, MOG
