Description: Orexin B is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that regulates feeding behavior. This peptide significantly augments food intake in a dose-dependent manner when a bolus was administered intracerebroventricularly. The discovery of Orexins and their receptors may provide a novel molecular basis for understanding the role of the lateral hypothalamic areas in the regulation of energy homeostasis.
