Description

Myogenin Antibody [F5D] | 33-557 | Gentaur UK, US & Europe Distribution

Host: Mouse

Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Cat, Pig

Homology: N/A

Immunogen: Amino acids 138-158 from the rat protein were used as the immunogen for this Myogenin antibody.

Research Area: Signal Transduction

Tested Application: E, Flow, IF, WB, IP, IHC

Application: ELISA: order BSA-free format
Flow Cytometry: 0.5-1 ug/million cells in 0.1ml
Immunofluorescence: 0.5-1 ug/ml
Western blot: 0.5-1 ug/ml
Immunoprecipitation: 0.5-1 ug/500ug protein lysate
Immunohistochemistry (FFPE) : 0.5-1 ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT (1)
Prediluted format: incubate for 30 min at RT (2)
The optimal dilution of the Myogenin antibody for each application should be determined by the researcher.

1. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required) , drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.

User Note: Optimal dilutions for each application to be determined by the researcher

BACKGROUND: Myogenin is a member of the MyoD family of myogenic basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors that also includes MyoD, Myf-5, and MRF4 (also known as herculinor Myf-6) . MyoD family members are expressed exclusively in skeletal muscle and play a key role in activating myogenesis by binding to enhancer sequences of muscle-specific genes. The regulatory domain of MyoD is approximately 70 amino acids in length and includes both a basic DNA binding motif and a bHLH dimerization motif. MyoD family members share about 80% amino acid homology in their bHLH motifs. Anti-myogenin labels the nuclei of myoblasts in developing muscle tissue, and is expressed in tumor cell nuclei of rhabdomyosarcoma and some leiomyosarcomas. Positive nuclear staining may occur in Wilms tumor.
