Background: PsaF (PSI-F) is a conserved subunit of type I photosynthetic reaction centers (Photosystem I, PSI) . PSI is an integral membrane multi-protein complex that catalyzes the electron transfer from plastocyanin (or cytochrome c6) to ferredoxin (or flavodoxin) .
