Pyridostatin is a highly selective G-quadruplex DNA stabilizing agent (Kd=490 nM). Pyridostatin stabilizes G-quadruplexes, targeting the proto-oncogene SRC and telomeric G-quadruplexes, inducing DNA damage and cell-cycle arrest. Pyridostatin targets the proto-oncogene Src and reduces SRC protein levels and SRC-dependent cellular motility in human breast cancer cells.
