Description

ATPase Activity Assay Kit II (Colorimetric) | K2099-100

Description: ATPase (Adenosine Triphosphatase; EC 3.6.1.3) are a class of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to form adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and inorganic phosphate. The energy released during the dephosphorylation reaction is harnessed by the ATPase enzyme to drive other cellular processes such as synthesis of biomolecules, cell motility, ion pumping, protein folding, etc., that would otherwise not occur. Therefore, ATPases act as molecular motors that facilitate numerous cellular processes, essential for life. There are different types of ATPases including Na+/K+- ATPase, H+/K+- ATPase, Ca+2 ATPase etc., which differ in function, structure and ions they transport. ’s ATPase Activity Assay Kit II is a simple plate-based colorimetric assay for measuring the ATPase activity in biological samples. In this assay, ATPase hydrolyzes ATP to release ADP and free phosphate ions. ADP th undergoes a series of enzymatic reactions in the presence of ADP Converter, ADP Probe and ADP Developer Mix to generate a colored product, which is measured at 570 nm. The assay is simple, sensitive and can detect as low as 5 µU of ATPase in biological samples.
