Test Principale: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SRY in samples. An antibody specific for SRY has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anySRY present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SRY is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SRY bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Product Overview: SRY is a sex-determining gene on the Y chromosome in the therians.This intronless gene encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the high mobility group (HMG) -box family of DNA-binding proteins. This protein is the testis determining factor (TDF), also referred to as the SRY protein, which initiates male sex determination. Mutations in this gene give rise to XY females with gonadal dysgenesis ; translocation of part of the Y chromosome containing this gene to the X chromosome causes XX male syndrome.SRY has been linked to the fact that men are more likely than women to develop dopamine-related diseases such as schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. makes a protein that controls concentrations of dopamine, the neurotransmitter that carries signals from the brain that control movement and coordination.
