Description

CD40 Ligand (CD40L/TRAP) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF superfamily of ligands. Natually, CD40L is a membrane-bound protein, but proteolytically cleaved 15-18 kDa soluble forms of CD40L are also fully active. CD40L plays an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B-cells, and is critical for immunoglobulin (Ig) class switching. Recombinant murine CD40 Ligand is a soluble 18 kDa protein containing 149 amino acid residues comprising the receptor binding TNF-like domain of CDE40L.
