Description

Cytochrome b5a (CYB5A) is a membrane-bound hemoprotein which functions as an electron carrier for several membrane bound oxygenases like cytochrome P450 enzymes. Defects in the CYB5A gene (METHB-CYB5A) cause methemoglobinemia also known as CYB5A-related methemoglobinemia (a hematologic disease characterized by the presence of excessive amounts of methemoglobin in blood cells, resulting in decreased oxygen carrying capacity of blood, cyanosis and hypoxia). ’s human recombinant CYB5A produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 132 amino acids (1-108 a.a of Uniprot Accession# P00167) and having a molecular mass of 14.9kDa. CYB5A is fused to a 24 amino acid long His-tag at the N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
