Description
Cytochrome b5a (CYB5A) is a membrane-bound hemoprotein which functions as an electron carrier for several membrane bound oxygenases like cytochrome P450 enzymes. Defects in the CYB5A gene (METHB-CYB5A) cause methemoglobinemia also known as CYB5A-related methemoglobinemia (a hematologic disease characterized by the presence of excessive amounts of methemoglobin in blood cells, resulting in decreased oxygen carrying capacity of blood, cyanosis and hypoxia). s human recombinant CYB5A produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 132 amino acids (1-108 a.a of Uniprot Accession# P00167) and having a molecular mass of 14.9kDa. CYB5A is fused to a 24 amino acid long His-tag at the N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
