Description
Dipyridamole is a phosphodiesterase 5A (PDE5A) inhibitor (IC50 = 574 nM) that blocks uptake and metabolism of adenosine by erythrocytes and vascular endothelial cells. Dipyridamole also potentiates the antiaggregating action of prostacyclin. Formulations containing dipyridamole in combination with aspirin have been used to prevent stroke and other cardiovascular events. Apart from the well-known antiplatelet function, DIP may provide potential therapeutic benefits to patients with COVID-19.
