Description
Erastin is a selective antitumor agent that displays greater lethality in human tumour cells harbouring mutations in the oncogenes HRAS, KRAS or BRAF. It binds to mitochondrial volatage-dependent anion channels (VDAC) proteins, more specifically on VDAC2 and alters its gating. Erastin rapidly induces an oxidative, non-apoptotic cell death in several human tumors harboring activating mutations in the RAS-RAF-MEK signaling.
