Description

Exonuclease I hydrolyzes single-stranded DNA in the 3'5' direction, releasing 5'-mononucleotides and leaving the terminal 5'-dinucleotide intact. Hydrolysis is processive and cannot proceed if the 3' terminus is phosphorylated.
