Description

E5012 | GAL-9 (Human) ELISA Kit DataSheet

Galectin-9 (GAL-9) is a 36 kDa β-galactoside lectin protein that belongs to the galectin family of proteins. It is ubiquitously expressed in tissues and cells; however, it is abundantly present in immune and epithelial cells of the GI tract. Galectin-9 is involved in the negative selection of T-cells. It also induces apoptosis of CD4+ Th1 cells and CD8+ cytotoxic cells and promotes differentiation of naïve T-cells into Treg. Studies have demonstrated that Galectin-9 expression correlates with tumor cell adhesion and aggregation in melanoma, breast cancer, hepatocellular, and oral squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, Galectin-9 could serve as an efficient target for anti-cancer therapies. ’s Galectin-9 (Human) ELISA kit quantitatively measures Galectin-9 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added to the plate, and post-incubation any unattached conjugates are washed off by Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of Galectin-9 in the sample or standard.
