BACKGROUND: The GARP5 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human Glycoprotein A Repetitions Predominant (GARP, also known as LRRC32 or Garpin) molecule, a 80 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the cell surface. GARP is expressed in activated Treg cells, placenta, pancreas, liver, skeletal muscle, heart, lung, and kidney, and it acts as a receptor for latent TGF-beta, which down-regulates the Treg cells action.
