Glycogen synthase (phospho Ser9) Antibody | 50-228 | Gentaur UK, US & Europe Distribution

Host: Rabbit

Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Zebrafish, Bovine, Chicken, Frog

Homology: N/A

Immunogen: Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho-Ser9 of GSK3b.

Research Area: Phospho-Specific

Tested Application: WB

Application: The antibody has been directly tested for reactivity in Western blots with rat tissue. It is anticipated that the antibody will react with human, mouse, chicken, bovine, canine, non-human primate, Zebra fish and Xenopus based on the fact that these species have 100% homology with the amino acid sequence used as antigen.

BACKGROUND: Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3) is a serine/threonine kinase that is involved in the regulation of many signaling pathways. To date, 2 isoforms have been identified: GSK3alpha and GSK3beta. Specifically, GSK3beta has been shown to play a key inhibitory role in both the insulin and Wnt signaling pathways (Papkoff and Aikawa 1998) . It has been suggested that Ser9 phosphorylation underlies the inhibition of GSK3beta by insulin (Sutherland et al., 1993) .
