Description
XAF1 is a negative regulator of the members of the IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis) protein family. It inhibits the anti-caspase activity of BIRC4 (XIAP or IAP3) and enhances apoptosis. It mediates TNF-alpha-induced apoptosis and is involved in apoptosis in trophoblast cells.
