Description: Interleukin-28A (IL28A) is distantly related to type I interferons and the IL-10 family. Expression of IL28A is induced by viral infection which interacts with a heterodimeric class II cytokine receptor that consists of interleukin 10 receptor, β (IL10RB) and interleukin 28 receptor α. IL28A exhibits common features with type I IFNs such as antiviral activity, antiproliferative activity and in vivo antitumor activity. IL28A acts similarly to IFNs, but is less effective generally and has activity in a more limited range of cell lines. IL-28A induces ELR (-) CXC chemokine mRNA in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells, in an IFN-γ-independent manner. IL28A produced in response to viral infection, activates both monocytes and macrophages producing a restricted panel of cytokines and therefore is an important factor in activating innate immune responses at the site of viral infection. IL28A is capable of exacerbating a T-cell-mediatautoimmune disease. ’s IL28A (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of IL28A in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of IL28A in the sample.
