Description
A broad spectrum matrix metalloprotease (MMP) inhibitor with IC₅₀ values of 3, 5, 6, 9 and 13 nM for MMP-9, MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-14 and MMP-7 respectively. It covalently binds to the zinc(II) ion in the active site of MMPs, thereby inhibiting the action of MMPs, inducing extracellular matrix degradation, and inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor growth and invasion, and metastasis.
Marimastat is a broad spectrum matrix metalloprotease (MMP) inhibitor with IC₅₀ values of 3, 5, 6, 9 and 13 nM for MMP-9, MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-14 and MMP-7 respectively. It covalently binds to the zinc(II) ion in the active site of MMPs, thereby inhibiting the action of MMPs, inducing extracellular matrix degradation, and inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor growth and invasion, and metastasis.
