Description: Matrix metalloproteinase-16 (MMP-16) belongs to the matrix metalloproteinase family. These are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. MMP-16 degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as collagen type III and fibronectin. It is involved in the matrix remodeling of blood vessels. It participates in multiple biological behaviors and plays an important role in regulating tumor invasion. MMP16 is highly expressed and correlated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer patients by promoting proliferation and invasion of GC cells. MMP-16 could be a novel molecular target and prognostic marker for gastric cancer. ’s MMP-16 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of MMP-16 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other ological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of MMP-16 in the sample.
