(2012) .MnSOD3 can be only detected in Fe-limited cells (0.5 or 0.2 mM added Fe) (i.e., samples exhibiting the novel MnSOD activity) but not in cells grown with higher concentrations of added Fe.
Background: MnSOD3 (Superoxide dismutase) is an chloroplastic enzyme which destroys radicals which are normally produced within the cells and which are toxic to biological systems. It is induced under Fe limitation, Mn Deficiency, and H2O2 stress as shown by Page et al. (2012) .
