Product Category: Cytology

Application: Cytokines

Product Type: Cytokines

Sequence: Amino acid sequence derived from soluble form of mouse IL-21 (Q9ES17) (Pro 25-Ser 146) was expressed, with an initial Met at the C-terminus.

Activity: Measured by its ability to induce Interferon gamma secretion by human natural killer lymphoma NK-92 cells. The ED50 for this effect is typically 4-20 ng/ml. The ED50 for this effect is typically 4-20 ng/ml.

protein Lenght: The recombinant mouse IL-21 consists of 123 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 14.3KDa. It migrates as a 15 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

Preparation: E. coli

Kit Component: N/A

Features & Benefits : N/A

Molecular Weight: 14.3kDa

Usage Note: Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Mouse IL21 protein in sterile ddH2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Storage Conditions: Lyophilized Mouse IL-21 proteinshould be stored desiccated below -20°C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.81% HSA or BSA) . Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature.

Background: IL-21 belongs to the IL-15/IL-21 family. It is a cytokine with immunoregulatory activity. Cytokines are proteinaceous signaling compounds that are major mediators of the immune response. They control many different cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation and cell survival/apoptosis but are also involved in several pathophysiological processes including viral infections and autoimmune diseases. Cytokines are synthesized under various stimuli by a variety of cells of both the innate (monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells) and adaptive (T- and B-cells) immune systems. IL-21 is expressed in activated CD4-positive T-cells but not in CD8-positive T-cells, B-cells, or monocytes. It may promote the transition between innate and adaptive immunity. IL-21 has been tried as therapy for alleviating allergic responses. It can significantly decrease pro-inflammatory cytokines produced by T cells in addition to decreasing IgE levels in a mouse model for rhinitis (nasal passage inflammation)
