NCAM-1/CD56 (Neural cell adhesion molecule 1) is a cell adhesion molecule which belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It plays an important role in neurogenesis, neurite outgrowth, proliferation, and cell migration. It is mostly associated with natural killer cells in the hematopoietic system. It is expressed in 15-20% of acute myeloid leukemia patients. It acts as a receptor for Zika virus. ’s NCAM-1/CD56 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of NCAM-1 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of NCAM-1 in the sample.
