Opicapone is a potent inhibitor of catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT). It inhibits rat peripheral COMT with ED₅₀ values below 1.4 mg/kg up to 6 h post-administration. It is approved for use as adjunctive treatment to levodopa/carbidopa in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
