Application: WB, ELISA

Detection Range: To detect Human HB-EGF by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 μg/ml. When used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human HB-EGF is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. To detect Human HB-EGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100μl/well), a concentration of 0.25-1.0 μg/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with a Biotinylated Rabbit Anti-Human HB-EGF as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 2000-4000 pg/ml of Recombinant Human HB-EGF.

Species Reactivity/Cross reactivity: Human

Antigen: recombinant human HB-EGF (Cat# 100-185)

Description: HB-EGF is an EGF related growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor, and stimulates the proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMC), fibroblasts, epithelial cells, and keratinocytes. HB-EGF is expressed in numerous cell types and tissues, including vascular endothelial cells and SMC, macrophages, skeletal muscle, keratinocytes, and certain tumor cells. The ability of HB-EGF to specifically bind heparin and heparin sulfate proteoglycans is distinct from other EGF-like molecules, and may be related to the enhanced mitogenic activity, relative to EGF, that HB-EGF exerts on smooth muscle cells. The human HB-EGF gene encodes a 208 amino acid transmembrane protein, which can be proteolytically cleaved to produce soluble HB-EGF.
