Host: Rabbit
Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat
Homology: Predicted species reactivity based on immunogen sequence: Bovine: (100%)
Immunogen: TAF9 antibody was raised against a 17 amino acid peptide near the center of human TAF9.
The immunogen is located within amino acids 110 - 160 of TAF9.
Research Area: Homeostasis
Tested Application: E, WB, IHC-P, IF
Application: TAF9 antibody can be used for detection of TAF9 by Western blot at 1 - 2 μg/ml. Antibody can also be used for Immunohistochemistry at 5 μg/mL. For Immunoflorescence start at 20 μg/mL.
Antibody validated: Western Blot in human samples; Immunohistochemistry in mouse samples and Immunofluorescence in mouse samples. All other applications and species not yet tested.
Specificiy: TAF9 antibody is human, mouse and rat reactive. Multiple isoforms of TAF9 are known to exist. TAF9 is predicted to not cross-react with other TAF family members.

User Note: Optimal dilutions for each application to be determined by the researcher.
BACKGROUND: Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II is coordinated by the transcription factor IID (TFIID) , which binds to the core promoter to position the polymerase properly, serves as the scaffold for assembly of the remainder of the transcription complex, and acts as a channel for regulatory signals. TFIID is composed of the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and the TBP-associated factors (TAFs) . TAFs may participate in basal transcription, serve as coactivators, function in promoter recognition or modify general transcription factors (GTFs) to facilitate complex assembly and transcription initiation (1) . TAF9 is one of the smaller subunits of TFIID that binds to the basal transcription factor GTF2B as well as to several transcriptional activators such as p53 and VP16 (2) .
