Description
Zonisamide is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide derivative with an anticonvulsant property. Zonisamide appears to block sodium and calcium channels, thereby stabilizing neuronal membranes and suppressing neuronal hyper-synchronization. In addition, this agent also facilitates both dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission.
