Description

Iberin is a natural isothiocyanate from cruciferous plants. It is a hydrolysis product of glucosinolate. It induces the expression of phase II detoxification enzymes, quinone reductase (QR) and glutathione S-transferase (GST). It activates Nrf2 regulated antioxidant/detoxifying genes. It induces cell cycle arrest with an inhibition of expression of Cdk2, Cdk4, and Cdk6 proteins and apoptosis with the activation of caspase-9, caspase-3, and PARP in neuroblastoma cells. It is a quorum-sensing inhibitor (QSI) of the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
