Description
Nucleozin is an antiviral agent that triggers the aggregation of nucleoprotein (NP) and inhibits its nuclear accumulation. Nucleozin impedes influenza A virus replication in vitrowith a nanomolar median effective concentration (EC50) and protects mice challenged with lethal doses of avian influenza A H5N1. Nucleozin is effective in fighting H1N1, H3N2, and H5N1 flu virus strains by inducing the formation of NP aggregates and antagonizing its nuclear accumulation, leading to cessation of viral replication.
