Description: Matrix metalloproteinase-10 (MMP-10) also known as Stromelysin-2 or transin-2 belongs to the family of matrix metalloproteinases. It is involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. MMP10 has a broad substrate specificity and can degrade fibronectin, laminin, elastin, proteoglycan core protein, gelatins, and several types of collagens. Its catalytic activity is similar to stromelysin 1, but action on collagen types III, IV and V is weak. MMP-10 is associated with malignant aggressiveness in various cancers. MMP10 is a potential prognostic biomarker for oral cancer. ’s MMP-10 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of MMP-10 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISAThe capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of MMP-10 in the sample.
