Description: Matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) also known as Matrilysin or pump-1 protease belongs to a family of matrix metalloproteinases consisting of structural-related zinc-dependent endopeptidases. MMP-7 acts as a regulatory protein in wound healing, bone growth, and remodeling. MMP-7 can degrade a variety of extracellular matrix substrates and other substrates and plays important regulatory roles in many human pathophysiological processes. It degrades casein, gelatins of types I, III, IV, and V, and fibronectin and activates procollagenase. MMP7 cleaves collagen III/IV/V/IX/X/XI and proteoglycan indicating that MMP inhibitors can potentially be used in therapies that are involved in inhibition of tissue degradation, remodeling, anti-angiogenesis and inhibition of tumor invasion. ’s MMP-7 (Human) ELISA Kit is used for the quantitative detection of MMP-7 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids. It is baseon the principle of sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is pre-coated on 96-well plates. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody are added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of MMP-7 in the sample.
